32% stake owned during mid-1980s by Netherlands government, reduced to 22% by 1996. 51% stake taken 27/4/1993 by Daimler-Benz Aerospace (later DASA), increased to 78% by 1996. Declared bankrupcy in 1996. Attempted take-over by Yakovlev, Samsung (jointly with Daewoo, Hyundai, Korean Air Lines) in 1996, Stork in 1997, but all failed in 1997 and Fokker ceased production. Subsidiary Aircraft Financing & Trading taken-over by Pembroke Capital in 1998.

Formed by Anthony Fokker in Berlin. Reorganized 1919 in Amsterdam, originally as Royal Netherlands Aircraft Factories Fokker. Created US subsidiary Fokker Aircraft Corporation in 1924. Obtained exclusive license and sales rights for Douglas airliners during 1933, including DC-2's. Reorganized after WW2. Signed an agreement with Fairtchild in 1956 for manufacture and sale of F-27s in the Western hemisphere except Brazil.
