Formed by Larry Risley by purchasing JB Aviation's assets in 1979 in New Mexico. Started services as Mesa Air Shuttle and renamed Mesa Airlines in 1982. IPO in 1987. Acquired assets from Aspen AW in 1990, Air Midwest in 1991, West Air in 1993, Crown AW in 1994, CCAir in 2002. Reorganized as member of Mesa Air Group. Formed subsidiary/division Desert Sun Airlines in 1995 for operations on behalf of America West Express, reintegrated in 1997. Moved from New Mexico to Arizona in 1998. Formed new division in Hawaii during 2006 named Go Hawaii. Agreed 12/06 with Shenzhen AL (51%) and Wilmington Trust (24%) for a joint-venture in China (code-named Beijing Airlines, twenty 50-seat RJ's expected by mid-2008; named KunpengAirlines in 4/07). Isssued a warning on 22/5/08 that it may seek Chapter 11 protection if it looses a running legal battle against Delta. Received notice from Nasdaq on 18/6/08 that Mesa Air Group will be de-listed effective 15/12/08 unless it complies with SEC regulations. Entered Chapter 11 on 5/1/10, continuing operations; exited bankrupcy on 1/3/11. IPO launched 9/8/18.
