Formed by Martin Shugrue (former Pan Am, Eastern and Continental executive) and Charles Cobb (who purchased the Pan Am logo and related assets in 1993). Move to New York planned in 1996 did not take place. 37.5% stake acquired in 1997 by Carnival Cruise Lines (main shareholder of Carnival Airlines), merging both operations. Transferred operations on Carnival certificate in 1998 (releasing the old Pan Am certificate to the FAA. Entered Chapter 11 on 26/2/98, ceasing scheduled services and operating charter flights only. Emerged from bankrupcy in 6/98 when acquired by Guilford Transportation Industries (a railway operator) and Mellon Bank for $25m, moving HQ to Fort Lauderdale. Restarted scheduled flights on 7/10/99 from new base in New Hampshire. Plan to form subsidiary Pan Am Dominicana based Santo Domingo in 2002 was postponed. Certificate transferred 2/11/04 to non-unionized Boston-Maine Airways with up to 10 727-200 (rolling fleet of 3 727, planned to be increased to 7), dba Pan Am Clipper Connection from 17/2/05. Found unfit by FAA on 1/2/08 and expected to close down within the next 30 days. Stopped scheduled services on 29/2/08 and AOC revoked by FAA on 1/5/08.
